Here is a funny review of Snitch. Notice that when jokes are made it’s about spousal tracking and when things get serious it’s about theft protection….

Here is something pretty cool you can do in a jiffy with Blip.
1. First select the friend you want to get directions to.

2. Then get a location or map his latest location.

3. Start the internal GPS of your BlackBerry to get your location.

4. In the BlackBerry Maps menu choose the “Get Direction” function.

5. Select your Current Location as your Start Location. (Make sure you started your internal GPS or have your actual current location).
6. Select your End Location as the one you got from Blip of your friend.

Et voilà! You now get the distance in between you and your friend and step by step driving instructions to get to him.

It’s always great when GPS Snitch is able to assist a friend in a new endeavor! Sean Blanchette and his team (Team Lucy) just competed in the 24 Hours of Adrenalin this past weekend in Canmore, Alberta. For those of you unfamiliar, the 24 Hours of Adrenalin is a mountain bike relay race. The baton is passed from one rider to the next on the completion of each lap for 24 continuous hours.

Sean was competing in the race for the first time and seeking insight; questioned some experienced participants. Sean found that “the recurring issue was the wait time for the next rider. If a rider was slow, or had a flat tire, the waiting rider could end up standing for over half an hour.” This was unacceptable for Sean and with his knowledge GPS Snitch, sought BlackLine out to assist him and his team in this endurance competition.
Since the Race was held in the Kananaskis, “there was no power for devices like laptops.” Sean needed a mobile & power smart solution for viewing and requesting of GPS Snitch location data. Luckily the team here at BlackLine GPS has been hard at work on some very new Snitch Beta software for the BlackBerry Pearl. With the new software, his BlackBerry Pearl and GPS Snitch, Team Lucy and Sean were able to pass the baton and Snitch each lap and “never waited more than 5 minutes at the waiting area.”
Sean was also pretty happy with the post mission analysis, “As an added bonus, once the race was over, we were able to check the GPS history and take a look at things like course length, speed and elevation using Google Earth.”

BlackLine would like to send congratulations out to Sean and Team Lucy for competing and finishing this endurance race.
Watch out for BlackLine on your back tire next year!

That’s right, GPS Snitch is running along-side the bulls, but not just any bulls. It’s tagging along with the Darkcyd Racing team’s Lamborghini Murcielago (don’t mind the pun!). There’s also one on their their 18-wheeler rig, and their Mercedes CLK DTM. Some sweet rides for sure.
For those of you who may not be aware, the Bullrun is a prominent road rally event starting in Montreal, Canada and running to Key West, Flordia. But it’s much more than this, sporting luxury and exotic vehicles, celebrities, and a ton of excitement. It brings back memories of the Cannonball Run movie from 1981.
We recommend you check out Darkcyd’s team page to see what events they’ve participated within.
Darkcyd has been kind enough to post a GPS Snitch account that allows you to interact with their three GPS Snitch units. Using the sharing feature of GPS Snitch, they created a new account for GPS Sntich “Friends” to track, rather than sharing their personal account. A nice way to show off some of the functionality of GPS Snitch.
To get closer to the action, check out the SportsCarBlog blog for log-in information, track the progress of the Darckcyd team, and cheer them on.
